Steps to Chocolate Delirium
First things first. You’ll need to get your mousse ready, it takes a bit of sitting in the fridge to dissolve the sugar and cocoa. Mix ⅓ cup cocoa powder, and ½ cup granulated sugar into 1½ cups of the heavy whipping cream. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours, or so, while you make and cool brownies.

Next, in a 9 x 13 pan, you’ll need to either bake 1 package chewy brownie mix, or make your own. When completely cool, crumble or cut them into ½ inch squares. Yes, there is plenty! I’ve never been able to cut those brownies without sampling a few!

Next step is to whip the remainder of the heavy whipping cream (1½ cups) with a couple tablespoons of granulated sugar, until stiff peaks appear. Or, you can use a 1 tub Cool Whip instead of the whipped cream. Either works fine, but of course, real cream tastes better!
To finish mousse, remove from fridge and whip until stiff peaks form.

Next, comes the layering! I can’t believe I forgot to take a side view of this when it was done, but, you can imagine it until you make your own! 🙂 Place ½ of the brownie pieces evenly into a large glass serving bowl or trifle bowl. A trifle bowl (is that even what they’re called?) is only so you can see the layers… I don’t have one, so a glass serving bowl works fine, just not as pretty!

On top of brownies, layer ½ of the mousse, ½ of the whipped cream (or Cool Whip), a nice hearty sprinkle of toffee bits, and ½ of the chopped pecans if desired. I rarely use pecans, because I have too many non-nut-lovers in our house! Repeat layers so you end with the toffee bits and pecans on top.

The final step, if you can manage it, is to cover it and refrigerate it for at least a couple hours. Over night is even better. However long you wait, I hope you like it!!
Did you make it? Did you like it? Let me know!
Thanks for coming! Let’s do it again!
