Since it’s been a while, I thought I might need to reintroduce you the crew….my crew, which consists of a goofy dog, 3 cats and chickens….

Breeze

Here’s Breeze, she loves either staring down these little ground squirrel holes, or just completely terrorizing the poor little guys by poking her nose clear into the hole and just laying there for a while….soaking up all those good smells! If you haven’t met her, you can go here to read more about her!

She’s a mess in so many ways…..one of the most endearing messes ever! 🙂

My friend Breeze with her nose parked in a ground squirrel hole.

Our friend Tanya took this masterpiece…..(Thanks for sharing it!) Breeze needs an audience to REALLY shake her toys, and buck up and down like she’s a bronc at the rodeo! This day she had one, so she made the most of it. All the while keeping her eye on Tanya, making sure she was enjoying the show!

Breeze shaking the life out of her stuffed animal...caught mid-shake!

I don’t know if you can zoom in enough to appreciate the EYE….. Ha! Silly dog!

Flower

And then there’s Flower. Little, gentle, delicate Flower.

Flower, who sleeps like she means it! Well, I guess ALL cats sleep like they mean it. They are so fun to find napping in all these awkward, cozy positions!

Flower the cat sleeping upside down on the porch bench.

Below is Geronimo having to “suffer” and share the bench with the zonked bench-thief, Flower. He actually tolerates quite a bit from her….everybody likes Flower!

Geronimo

Here is the infamous Geronimo, who, by the way, is mellowing in his old age! He doesn’t seem to have quite such a short fuse these days. As in, he lets you pet him more, without turning on you mid-pet, and raking your hand with teeth or claws! YAY!

Also…this must be his signature pose….. 🙂 🙂 He probably thinks it makes him look cool, or something! Ha!

My friend Geronimo the cat perched on a little block of wood.

Cloud

And here are Breeze and Cloud, doing their favorite thing….. loving on each other! They’re looking kind of rough, so it’s good “winter,” such as it was, is about over so we can do some more hair care….. Yes, I know that’s not a good excuse, but apparently I’m a fair weather groomer!

Breeze the golden, and Cloud the cat loving on each other.

Chickens

Sad news on the chicken front…… Our flock is down by several…… because of a rotten fox or coyote that thought he found the free lunch line! ARGH!

My soft heart is to blame….I don’t like keeping them penned up all the time. So I let them out to roam the farm, and Mr. Robber discovered that! He thought he hit the jackpot! Mid-day even! Mid-day robberies are NOT a normal thing…. evening robberies are more expected, or not locking the coop at night, then, it’s not a surprise if a chicken gets eaten, but we’re new to this mid-day thing!

So…. I’d keep them locked up for a while, then get to feeling sorry for them again, and let them out in the afternoon for a while…..

It was fine for a week or two, or three, but then another one wouldn’t show up on the roost at night.

A flock of chickens settling in their coop for the night.

So now, slow learner that I am, they are prisoners…

Well cared for prisoners, but prisoners, none the less. They have their run of course, but there is no green grass to scratch around in. 🙁

And VERY sad to report that Coffee and Dough, who are both the main characters in their own books, are among the missing… I just really shouldn’t get so attached….

The rest of the chickens were SOOOO mean to Coffee after she started molting that I let her out every day for MONTHS….she was apparently smarter and/or quicker than the enemy — until she wasn’t! 🙁

My chicken friends in their coop.

And then, there’s beautiful Arthur! He grew up….and we are finally SURE he’s a rooster!! Ha Ha!!

Beautiful Partridge Chantecler Rooster.

And that’s it…. That’s the whole crew, in a nutshell….well, what’s left of it anyway. I guess that’s how life is on the high plains, well, life anywhere, actually…. You win some, you lose some…. But you’ve got to keep enjoying it regardless!

Thanks for coming!
